Last night, officers responded to the report of a robbery in the 14800 blk Interurban Ave S. The victim reported that a male had brandished a knife and took his car keys from him at knifepoint.

As officers were arriving at the scene, Officer Barlett observed the victim’s vehicle that had been stolen by the suspect leaving the parking lot. Officer Barlett attempted to stop the vehicle which fled southbound on Interurban Ave S. Due to the nature of the crime, a pursuit was authorized.

Officer Barlett performed a PIT maneuver and disabled the vehicle in the 18300 blk Interurban Ave S. The driver refused to follow commands and began reaching around for something inside of the vehicle. Due to the suspects refusal to follow commands, the belief that he was still armed with a knife and was actively reaching for something out of sight within the vehicle, K9 Raider was deployed who engaged the suspect. The suspect was ultimately taken into custody.

After being identified, it was determined that the suspect had an active felony weapons violation warrant issued by the U.S.Marshal’s. He was booked into jail and the vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant for evidence.

  1. What a great example of using experience/solid training and the proper tools in the right way to take this bad actor into custody! Thank you, officers and Raider!
