Suicide Prevention Month
From Interim Chief Lund,
As we recognize Suicide Prevention Month, I want to take a moment to acknowledge an issue that affects families, friends, and communities everywhere. Mental health challenges often remain hidden, but their impact is deep and real on many levels. This month, we remember those whose lives were lost to suicide and stand together to remind everyone that help is available in many forms. As a profession and as a society, we have lost far too many people to suicide.
Throughout September, our officers will be wearing special suicide-prevention awareness patches. These patches serve as a visible reminder of our commitment to supporting those who may be struggling and meant to encourage open conversations about mental health. If you see an officer wearing one, we invite you to stop and talk to them. We’re here to listen, support, and connect you with resources if needed or just be a kind ear if you happen to need one. We also have two incredible Mental Health Professionals (MHP) that are embedded within our patrol division that can respond to assist.
We are committed to doing whatever we can to support those in crisis and provide the best resource and assistance possible to those in need.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call or text 988 for immediate help.
