K9 Raider Tracks & Apprehends Burglary Suspect

Earlier this week, our Nights A crew responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a business in the 4000 blk S 139th St. The suspect fled deep into a wooded area nearby as officers were arriving. K9 Raider responded to track the suspect.

Officers setup a perimeter and began what turned into a two-hour search for the suspect. The suspect was located attempting to hide in the brush and was apprehended with assistance from K9 Raider and his handler. The suspect is a prolific offender with upwards of 20+ convictions many of which were felonies. In addition to tracking the suspect, K9 Raider was instrumental in searching for, and locating numerous pieces of evidence tied to the suspect and the burglary.

This was a great coordinated effort by our K9 unit and Nights A patrol officers to make sure this individual was apprehended. It is also yet another unfortunate example of the frequency in which we are encountering repeat offenders that put our community and officers at risk.

The suspect was booked into jail on numerous charges.
