Stop For School Buses
There’s a lot of things you can do with $500. Keep it in your wallet by stopping when the school bus “Stop” sign is out. We’ve had numerous reports from bus drivers and parents that they’re seeing individuals passing school buses fairly regularly when the stop sign out. This is 100% unacceptable and can easily lead to a very avoidable tragedy.
Since 2020, we’ve seen an uptick in speeding, disregarding traffic signals, reckless driving, impaired driving and fatal crashes across the state. Ignoring a school bus stop sign is a hefty fine and we will ticket violators caught doing so.
Stop for school buses when the sign is out. Drive with caution when children are present at bus stops, walking to school and in school zones.

Amen, Tukwila Police Department! Drivers should put Tukwila children first! Obey the stop signs. Drive slowly when children are around. Treat pedestrians as if it was you walking out there.
