Officers Recognized For Saving Life

🚨Officers Recognized For Life Saving Efforts🚨

On 4/13/2024 at around 10PM, Officer Johnson and Officer Hiatt were dispatched to a welfare check in the 16300 blk 42nd Ave S. Initial information indicated that there was an unresponsive adult male passed out on a bench with foil in his lap.

Officer Johnson and Officer Hiatt were unable to locate a pulse during their initial assessment of the male at which time Office Johnson began chest compressions while Officer Hiatt hooked up an AED to the male. A dose of Narcan was administered to the male along with continued chest compressions. After approximately four minutes, the male began to slowly breathe unassisted and a pulse was detected.

The actions of Officer Johnson and Officer Hiatt directly led to the fact that this individual is still alive today.

  1. There is no higher calling than to save a life! Congratulations on a perfect approach to the situation. Only a few years ago this wasn’t possible (we didn’t have NARCAN in the hands of first responders). TPD and other resources equipped you for this moment, but there is nothing like when it gets real! Congratulations Officer Hiatt and Officer Johnson!!!
