Carjacking Suspects Cause Temporary School Lockdown
Fleeing Carjacking Suspects Cause Brief Lockdown at Foster HS
UPDATE 3:35PM – The remaining suspect has been located on 148th near 42nd and was taken into custody by a patrol officer. He unsuccessfully attempted to carjack a motorist in the area just prior to being taken into custody.
At approximately 2:23PM, a Major Crimes Unit detective spotted a vehicle that had been taken in an armed carjacking pull into the old Tukwila Library at the corner of 42nd and 144th. As uniformed officers arrived in the area, five subjects fled from the vehicle on foot.
Due to the proximity to Foster High School, the school was placed in lockdown. Officers quickly detained four of the subjects. One of the subjects fled into the school. Officers immediately entered the school and reviewed available surveillance footage. They determined that the suspect entered the school then immediately exited school property.
At this time, the lockdown has been lifted as the suspect is no longer believed to be in the area. Officers and detectives will be remaining in the area to process and recover the involved vehicle.
