Vending Machine Thief Taken Into Custody

A 57-year-old male from Renton is in custody following the theft of cash from a vending machine.

At around 9:30AM, officers were alerted by Westfield Southcenter Security that a male had just broken into a Pepsi vending machine and had fled out the doors on foot. He was reported to have entered a nearby vehicle and was sitting inside counting the cash that he reportedly had taken from the vending machine.

Arriving officers located the vehicle with the matching suspect inside of it. He was detained without incident. The suspect, a 57-year-old male from Renton had warrants out of Bellevue, Puyallup, Lakewood, Bremerton and Federal Way for numerous crimes. The suspect is also reported to be responsible for several other similar vending machine thefts at the same location over the past several days.

The suspect was booked into jail.
