Tukwila Detective & Renowned Firearms Expert Retires

This week marks the end of a 30-year career and the beginning of retirement for Detective Larry Hann #129.

Detective Hann began his career in 1992 with the Mukilteo Police Department. It was there that he met and served as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for a young reserve officer named Eric Drever. If that name sounds familiar, it is because (current) Tukwila PD Chief Eric Drever would go on to join Tukwila PD in the mid-90s and at which time he encouraged Officer Hann to do the same which he did in 1997.

During his time with us, Officer Hann has served as an FTO, Tukwila Anti-Crime (TAC) Bike Officer, Active Shooter Instructor, Master Firearms Instructor and Armorer, Valley SWAT member for over 20 years, Valley Independent Investigations Team (VIIT) Investigator, Hostage Negotiator, Honor Guard member and his final assignment as a detective with the Major Crimes Unit (MCU).

Detective Hann is a firearms guru who always kept himself up to date on the newest trends in firearms equipment, training, legal matters and more. He would impart this wisdom on every current and former officer of the department since he joined the firearms instructor cadre in the late 90s.

Congratulations on your retirement Larry. We are fortunate to have had such an incredible source of training, wisdom and guidance on our side for 25-years and for having someone that always had our backs. We appreciate everything you have done for the department and the Tukwila community.
