On Friday, April 30th, we hosted our first ever Community Conversations event at Southcenter Mall. Community Conversations is an opportunity for officers and the public to interact with each other in a casual, non-enforcement setting, pose questions and get to know each other. This is the first in-person event that we have been able to hold since COVID-19 struck in 2020. It was great to be able to meet with the community face to face again and make those in-person connections.
During the event, we unveiled our new Polaris parks and trails patrol vehicle. This vehicle allows officers to rapidly deploy and patrol hard to access parts of the parks and trails with greater mobility. Oftentimes when bike units patrol the trails, they are unable to rapidly respond to other parts of the city if needed or safely traverse the terrain.
K9 Apollo also joined the party and after 45 minutes of attention and treats had to return to duty.
