On November 22nd at approximately 10:47 PM, a 911 caller reported having heard what they believed to be a vehicle collision about 15-minutes prior to their 911 call in the 12800 blk 48th Ave S.
Responding officers noticed damage to a vehicle barrier that separates the road from the Green River Trail and Duwamish River. Due to the darkness, weather conditions and rapidly moving water, officers were unable to safely see over the river embankment or determine if a vehicle had gone into the water at that location.
Today, officers utilizing the Marine Unit patrol boat responded to the area to search the location for any sign of a vehicle. King County Sheriff Guardian One, Tukwila FD, Renton FD and Valley Fire responded to assist in the search as well.
Tukwila officers located a vehicle with assistance from Guardian One completely submerged in the water. An adult male victim was located inside the vehicle. Their remains were retrieved and are being transported to the King County Medical Examiners Office.
