Stolen Vehicle & Property Recovered

On November 15, 2020 just after 5PM, Tukwila officers responded to a report of a male that was observed stealing items from a commercial property in the 12100 blk E Marginal Way S and loading them into a box truck. Responding officers located the truck driving away from the scene on E Marginal Way S.

The driver refused to stop when an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Due to a mechanical issue, the truck was going at a snail’s pace of under 30mph. The driver who is an adult male from Auburn finally stopped the truck in the 16400 blk Military Rd S and fled on foot. An officer pursued him and took him into custody nearby without incident. He was booked into jail on a felony DOC Escape warrant.

Officers discovered that the license plates on the vehicle had been switched and that the truck had been stolen earlier in the day from a business in the 200 blk Strander Blvd. The owner responded to retrieve it. The property that had been stolen from the business during at the beginning of the incident was also recovered and returned to the owner. Officers further discovered additional property in the truck that is believed to be stolen along with several catalytic converters that have been a hot item for thieves in the region lately.
