Officer Perry Retires
Congratulations to Officer Perry who today is closing out his 24-year career with Tukwila PD.
Officer Perry started with TPD in April of 2000 following a career with the U.S Army. During his tenure, Officer Perry worked in Patrol and was a Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) member, a Field Training Officer (FTO), Acting Sergeant, and participated with the city’s Equity Policy Implementation Committee. He spent a large portion of his career working in the Southcenter commercial area and served as the department liaison with the Washington Organized Retail Crime Association (WAORCA). He also helped the members of the department by spending time as the Tukwila Police Officers Guild (TPOG) President and various other roles.
-In 2010, Officer Perry received a certificate of commendation, along with other officers, for their response to a shooting in progress at Westfield Mall with gunshot victims down. He and other officers were able to contain the situation.
-In 2012, Officer Perry received Employee Of The Quarter award for his tireless efforts while working in Patrol, training new officers and acting as supervisor.
-In 2017, Officer Perry was awarded with a Life Saving medal, along with other officers. They rescued a suicidal male who was standing on the outer railing on the top of Olympic parking garage at Westfield Mall.
-In 2022, Officer Perry was recognized with another Certificate of Commendation, along with two other employees. The three successfully assisted a homeless individual who was in crisis to connect with his family and resources.
Officer Perry also participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run by running long miles to support the Special Olympics.
