Jewelry Thief Apprehended
On March 4th at approximately 11:45AM, a 21-year-old male from Seattle entered a department store in the Southcenter District and asked to see a piece of jewelry valued at around $8,000. After the suspect was handed the jewelry, he took off running northbound through the parking lot. Loss prevention officers chased the suspect on foot. During the chase, the suspect informed them that he would shoot them and made a gun-like hand gesture towards them.
Patrol officers searching the area for the suspect located him walking behind a business in the 5700 blk Southcenter Business. When they told him to stop, he shared some less than polite words with them then took off running.
Officers pursued the suspect on foot and took him into custody without incident in the 5700 blk S 152nd St after he crawled through a hole in a fence and ran through some bushes.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail on Robbery 2nd Degree charges. The stolen jewelry was not located until the suspect was booked into jail at which time it was discovered in his underwear.
