20205 Officer of the Year
More congratulations are in order today this time to Corporal Craig Gardner for being the 2025 Officer of the Year. We hired an unprecedented amount of new officers over the past year. In doing so, it was imperative that these new officers receive proper training via our intensive 12-week post-academy field training program. Corporal Gardner who is a veteran field training officer (FTO) trained many of these new officers even canceling some of his vacation days to come in and ensure that they were receiving proper training.
Corporal Gardner spent much of his time in 2025 also working as an acting sergeant. In addition to this, he worked tirelessly throughout the year in his role as a peer support member supporting the Department’s wellness programs and initiatives.
In December, Corporal Gardner was selected as one of four officers appointed to the newly created patrol corporal specialty.
Thank you Corporal Gardner for your tireless efforts assisting new and veteran officers alike and for your leadership.
