Officer Injured During Arrest of Warrant Suspect
Earlier this week, one of our officers spotted a very well known (to law enforcement) individual driving in the 3400 blk S 146th St. The officer knew that the driver had a suspended license and thus initiated a traffic stop.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer realized that he also recognized the passenger in the vehicle. The passenger (like the driver) is also very well known to us and had a nice collection of active felony warrants. The suspect became combative and tried to flee on foot into a nearby apartment complex at point he then tried to break into a residence to escape. He was taken into custody and booked into jail. During the physical altercation to get him into custody, an officer had his finger broken and is currently recovering.
