Officers Resuscitate Male from Apparent Overdose

Last night, Officer Johnson and Officer Hiatt responded to a welfare check report of a male lying on a bench. While this is not an uncommon sight in cities everywhere, the concern of the reporting party and the rapid response of officers saved this individual’s life.

Upon arrival, the officers noted that the male and no pulse and was not breathing. The pair hooked up an AED and began CPR for almost four minutes at which time the male began to have a pulse and started breathing again. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Drug paraphernalia and substances were located at the scene. The substances field tested positive for Fentanyl and Xylazine. We are seeing Fentanyl overdoses still occurring at an alarming rate and are also seeing Fentanyl being mixed with others other substance for consumption. While we haven’t seen as much meth in a few years due to the popularity, low price and availability of Fentanyl, we are starting to see more and more of it as the drug of choice to consume with Fentanyl.
